La Maison Blanche Chambres d'Hôtes, MALESTROIT - chambre d'hôtes Malestroit

1    2    3

Situated on the edge of the medieval centre of Malestroit on the banks of the Nantes-Brest canal / River Oust, La Maison Blanche provides the ideal base for holidays or house hunting in Southern Brittany. The house is close to all local shops and restaurants.

Adrian & Jean Brook, the owners of La Maison Blanche, which has recently been fully refurbished, extend a warm and friendly welcome to guests. They invite you to come and enjoy the comforts of their home and the attractions of Malestroit and the surrounding area.

Accommodation is offered in three comfortable rooms. The house is known locally as La Maison Blanche due to the historic plaque on the garden wall which tells the story of Ermengarde, La Dame Blanche (The White Lady) of Malestroit. Each guest room is named after a character in the story.

'Alain de Malestroit' is a delightful double room with ensuite shower room. A child's bed or cot is available on request (supplement applies).

'Ermengarde' is a double room, named after the White Lady of Malestroit, and has a private shower room (not ensuite).

'Feval' is a twin room with ensuite shower room. There is a reduced tariff for single occupancy of this room.

Should you wish to read guests comments about La Maison Blanche, please see www.Tripadvisor.co.uk

There are lots of activities available locally including walking, horse riding, kayaking, bike hire, boat hire, shopping, golf, swimming, and of course fishing is available on the canal and the river providing you have a permit which you can obtain from the Tabac. There is a fine fishing tackle / hunting shop just beside the Mairie.

We have a Brochure which is available on request.

We offer a pick up service from Nantes, Rennes, Dinard or Lorient airports and Rennes, Nantes or Vannes railway stations at a reasonable charge.

Malestroit makes a great base for a holiday in Southern Brittany. Malestroit is a very pretty medieval town with many beautiful old timbered buildings and dates back to 987. It is known affectionately as 'La Perle de l'Oust', a Petite Cité de Charactère. It is surrounded by a whole host of interesting places to visit and is only a short drive from the coast where there are many lovely beaches. The local people are very welcoming, helpful and friendly and they will appreciate your attempts to speak French.

There is an excellent Office de Tourisme (www.malestroit.com) situated opposite the beautiful 12th Century church in the Place du Bouffay, where information and maps are freely available. The Place du Bouffay offers several bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a relaxing drink or meal and watch the world go by.

Malestroit boasts no less than eight restaurants including Breton, French, Moroccan, Italian, as well as a pizza takeaway and a Vietnamese takeaway.

There is an excellent market on Thursday mornings selling everything you could possibly want from beds and dining room suites to a superb range of local fruit, vegetables, meats, live seafood, poultry and everything in between.

There is a cinema at one end of the main square. Opposite this is a really good "Cave du Vin" where it is possible (indeed you are positively encouraged) to sample wines from huge vats before you make your choice. They also have a good range of liqueurs and a reasonable range of champagnes.

For those of you who may be property hunting, there are two excellent estate agents in Malestroit as well as a Notaire.

Should you need it, there is a launderette situated approximately 200 metres from La Maison Blanche.
